세계에서 가장 생산성이 높은 공장은 미쓰비시 자동차의 미즈시마공장이다.
2001년 영국의 조사 전문기관인 '월드마케팅 리서치'가 발표한 '전세계 자동차 조립공장의 생산성 분석'자료에 따르면 이공장은 근로자 1인당 연간 생산대수가 178대를 기록하였다.
다음으로 생산성이 좋은 공장으로는 도요타 다카오카공장으로 163대, 혼다 사야마공장이 155대, 현대 아산공장이 144대의 생산성을 기록하였다.
한편 1998년 생산성 1위를 차치한 대우자동차 창원공장은 85대로 19위를 차지하였다.
