세계 최초의 자동차 쇼는 1894년 12월 11일 파리에서 개최 되었다.
 (The Exposition International de Velocipedie et de Locomotion Automobile) 국제 규모의 자동차 모터쇼는 1897년 베를린에서 개최된 국제모터쇼(International Motor Show (IAA), 프랑크푸르트의 전신)를 시작으로 이어 1898년 프랑스 파리 살롱이 있었다. 

The first car show in the world was held in Paris on December 11, 1894.
 The International Motor Show (IA) was started by the Frankfurt Motor Show (formerly known as the International Motor Show) in Paris in 1897.
