1994. 10.17 영국의 택시 기사 제레미 르바인(Jeremy Levine), 승객 두 명을 태우고 런던에서 남아프리카 케이프타운까지 34,990km를 왕복 주행하여 세계 최장거리 택시주행 기록을 수립하였다.
두 승객은 영국에서 동유럽, 터키, 시리아, 요르단을 거쳐 아프리카까지 왕복하는 경로로 4만파운드의 택시비를 지불했다. 한편, 런던에서 케이프타운까지의 이 경로는 HERO(Historic Endurance Rallying Organization)에서 주관하는 자동차 내구성시험 경로로 채택되기도 했다.

The two passengers paid? 40000 for their round trip from Britain to Africa via Eastern Europe, Turkey, Syria, and Jordan. Meanwhile, this route from London to Cape Town was also adopted as a car endurance test route administered by the Historical Endurance Racing Organization (HERO).
