태백시에서 31번 국도를 타고 영월로 가다보면 화방재에서 정선군 고한을 넘어가는 414번 지방도로를 만나게 된다. 이 도로는 우리나라에서 가장 높은 도로로 해발 1,330m의 2차선 포장도로인데 이 도로로 계속 가다 보면 함백산 만항재와 대한체육회 태백분촌이 나온다.
이 도로외에도 38번국도를 타고 정선군 고한으로 넘어가는 두문동 고갯길은 해발 1,282m나 되는 2차선 포장도로이다 .  

When you take National Road No.31 from Taebaek City to Yeongwol, you will meet Local Road No.414, which crosses Gohan, Jeongseon-gun from Hwabangjae. This road is a two-lane paved road with the highest road in Korea at 1,330 meters above sea level, and if you continue, you will see Hambaeksan Mountain Manhangjae and Taebaek Bunchon of the Korea Sports Council.
In addition to this road, the Dumun-dong pass, which takes the 38 track to Gohan, Jeongseon-gun, is a two-lane paved road that covers 1,282 meters at sea level .
