우리나라 최초의 여성 카레이서는 김태옥씨(1953~)이다. 김씨는 1989년 볼카노 레이싱팀에 입단하여 1989년 영종도 데뷔전에서 24대중 7위의 성적을 거둔것을 시작으로 같은해 부산에서 열렸던 짐카나대회에 출전해 준우승을 차지하고, 1992년 한국모터챔피온쉽 여성전 준우승하였다. 그 후 28개의 레이스에 참가하여 우수한 성적을 거두었다.
1993년 현역에서 은퇴한 후, 1996년 지옥의 랠리라 부르는 파리-다카르 랠리에 김한봉 드리이버와 코 드라이버로 참가하여 한국 선수로는 최초로 완주에 성공하였다.
1999년 7월 24/25일 은퇴한 이후 처음으로 Happy 700, 99코리아 평창 랠리에 딸 최명희씨와 참가하여, 최초의 모녀레이서가 되었다. 김태옥은 운전을 맡은 드라이버이고, 최명희는 랠리 코스를 판독하고 리드해주는 코드라이버였다.
2000년 현재 카멘파크 소속 인터내셔널레이싱팀 단장을 맡고 있다.
여성으로서 국내최다 출전, 최다우승의 기록을 가지고 있다. 

 

The first female racer in Korea is Kim Tae-ok (1953 ~ 2004). Kim joined the Volcano racing team in 1989 and entered the Korean women's championship motor race in Busan in 1989, winning the seventh place in the public. She then participated in 28 races and did very well.
After retiring from active duty in 1993, he participated in the Paris-Dakar Rally for Hell (1996) with Kim Han-bong and a nose driver, which made him the first Korean player to complete.
She became the first mother and daughter to race car racing with Choi Myung-hee at the Happy 700 and 99 Korea Pyeongchang Rally for the first time since she retired on July 2425, 1999. Kim Tae-ok was the driver behind the wheel, and Choi Myung-hee was the nose driver who read and led the rally course.
In 2000, he is currently the head of the International Racing Team in Carmen Park.
As a woman, she holds the record for the most entries and the most wins in the nation.
