1825년 영국의 귀족 골즈워즈 경은 18인승 증기 엔진 버스 두 대를 만들었다.

이 버스는 실내에 6명이 타고 12명은 지붕에 타는 2층버스로 무게가 18톤이나 되었고 최고속도는 시속 20km였다. 휘발유 엔진 버스는 1895년 벤츠가 최초로 만든 8인승으로 5마력 휘발유 엔진을 얹고 최고시속 14km를 냈다.
 

Sir Goldsworth, an English nobleman, built two 18-seater steam-engine buses in 1825.

The bus, with six people inside and 12 others on its roof, weighed 18 tons and had a top speed of 20 kilometers per hour. The gasoline-engineered bus was the first eight to be built by Benz in 1895, and was powered by a five-horst-power gasoline engine and paid up to 14 kilometers per hour.
