미하엘 슈마허(33·독일·페라리)가  2001년 9월 2일 벨기에 스파프랑코상 서킷에서 열린 F1그랑프리 제14라운드에서 6.968㎞ 40바퀴(총연장 278.72㎞)를 1시간15분31.935초에 주파,라이벌 데이비드 쿨타드(영국)를 10.098초차로 따돌리고 우승하며 F1 그랑프리 최다우승을 차지했다．
슈마허는 올시즌 8승째를 거두며 총득점 104점으로 2위 쿨사드(57점)와 큰 점수차로 제치고 최고의 기량을 자랑했다.
이로써 슈마허는 F1 역대 최다승 타이기록(51승)을 깨고 52승째를 달성하며 F1 역사를 새롭게 썼다．슈마허는 알랭 프로스트가 갖고 있던 최다승 타이기록를 깨뜨리며 신기록 행진을 멈추지 않고 있다.이번 우승은 트랙길이 7㎞,총거리 305㎞인 스파프랑코상 서킷에서 슈마허의 통산 5승째이기도 했다.
슈마허의 52승은 F1 50년 역사상 단독 최다 우승횟수다. 현 F1프로스트팀 오너인 알랭 프로스트(프랑스)가 세운 51승뿐 아니라 ‘전설적인 영웅’아일톤 세나의 41승보다 11승 차이가 나는 의미 있는 기록이다. 슈마허는 대기록을 세움으로써 ‘살아있는 전설’로서 위대한 레이스엄을 입증해 보인 셈이다．
이제 남은 건 지난 13전에 이미 올시즌 종합 챔피언(통산 4회)을 확정지은 슈마허가 몇 승까지 우승행진을 벌일 것인가와 함께 50년대 전설적인 드라이버 후안 마뉴엘 판지오(아르헨티나)의 최다 시즌 챔피언인 5승에 맞춰지게 됐다．개인통산 159경기,52승째를 올린 슈마허는 현역 세계 최고의 드라이버일 뿐 아니라 포뮬러1경기를 가장 성공적인 스포츠로 만든 업적을 세웠다．
 

Michael Schumacher (33, German, Ferrari) won the F1 Grand Prix in Paris, Belgium, in the 14th round of the F1 Grand Prix series (19968 kilometers) with a maximum time of 318.72 hours at the time.
Schumacher achieved his eighth-game win this season, breaking the gap between the second-place Cool Sard (57) and the largest-ever point mark with 104 points.
With this, Schumacher broke the record of 52 wins (51 wins) in F1, setting a new chapter in F1 history, and then breaking the record held by Alain Frost.The win marked Schumacher's fifth career win in a circuit called the Sparprancossan, which is seven kilometers long and 305 kilometers wide.
Schumacher's 52 victories are the most solo wins in F1's 50-year history. It is a meaningful record, 11 times behind the 51 wins won by the current F1 proscenium owner, Alain Prost (France), and the 41 victory of legendary hero Aiton Senna. Schumacher proves the great Ray Scham as the ' Living Legend ' by setting a Great record.
Now remaining is Schumacher's fifty-fifths win of Argentina's most legendary driver Juan Manuel (50), who has already secured the best overall champion of the season (four times in his career).
